The International Association of Inter-American Studies invites you to submit articles for a future edition of FIAR (Forum for inter-american research) in the fall of 2012. The thematic focus of this edition will be the following: Religion in the Americas.
The increasing emergence of new religious groups and movements in the Americas, their transnational links, and the complex processes of new religious dynamics and tension across the continent call for further investigation into the field of religion within the context of inter-american studies. The call for papers addresses an interdisciplinary group of scholars from the social sciences and the humanities. The following topics are relevant for publication
· Processes of religious transnationalization (from above and from below) in the context of migration
· The use of modern technology (internet in particular) by religious actors
· Identity politics and religion, social inequality and religion, religion and subaltern cultures
· Representations of religion in literature, art, and cinema
· Culture industry and religion ”on the market”
· Intersections of religious identities and ethnic identities
La Asociación Internacional de Estudios Interamericanos convoca a ingresar artículos para la Edición (octubre 2012) de su revista en línea Fiar (Forum for inter-american research) con el foco temático “religión en las Americas”.
La continua emergencia de nuevos grupos y movimientos religiosos, el alcance transnacional de las redes formadas por estos, así como el complejo entramado de procesos que vinculan el dinamismo del campo religioso a otras esferas socioculturales a través del continente, plantean como imperativo la exploración de este campo en el seno de los estudios interamericanos.
La convocatoria se dirige a académicos de las ciencias sociales y humanidades que deseen publicar artículos científicos en torno a los siguientes ejes temáticos:
· Procesos de transnacionalización religiosa “desde abajo” y “desde arriba” (migración,
empresas religiosas)
· Uso estratégico de nuevas tecnologías (especialmente internet) por actores religiosos
· Políticas de identidad religiosa, desigualdad social y subalteridad cultural
· Modos de representación de lo religioso en literatura, arte y cine
· Mercado religioso e industria cultural
· Identidades religiosas e identidades étnicas
El proceso de dictamen estará abierto hasta febrero 15, 2012.
