Los congresos del la SISR/ISSR se llevan a cabo en inglés y en francés principalmente. Los interesados en presentar un resumen, favor de enviarlo a los domicilios de las organizadoras, de acuerdo a las características presentadas en esta misma página (abajo) para la Joint Session SISR/ACSRM. AMERINDIAN RELIGIONS AND THE NEW AGE SPIRITUAL NETWORK
The papers for this session will be focused on the ongoing transformations of the Amerindian religions (native religions, ethnic or traditional spiritualities) due to the increasing interaction and exchange that constitutes cultural globalization. Amerindian religions are products of the cultural persistence of indigenous communities against Christian evangelization carried out by the Spanish conquerors and missionaries. Some of the elements of their cosmovision have endured through centuries both in some ethnic communities by means of oral transmission from parents to children (i.e. shamanism, ancestors rituals, magic, healing practices and “limpias”) and in the syncretistic practices of popular Catholicism. Today, in the context of the transformations produced by the intense fluxes of cultural exchange in a global scale, there is a new fascination for those shamanic, ancestral and autoctonous practices alive in both indigenous and popular cultures in Latin America. This cosmopolitan interest has converted those religious practices in part of a menu in the New Age spirituality circuits, alternative and neoesoteric networks, in a global scale market. This session will analize the translocalization dynamics of both the indigenous and popular religions (nativistic, indigenous, popular, local or folkloric) and their re-creations, adaptations and post modern uses in urban neo-shamanism, neoesoteric hybridizations, and circulating commodities in new age consumers networks. The new meanings (re-semantizaction) and new uses of these religions given by new urban or cosmopolitan actors in the processes of re-localization will be also of interest.

RELIGIONS AMERINDIENNES ET CIRCUITS DE SPIRITUALITE NEW AGE
L’objectif de cette session sera d’étudier les transformations qui touchent notamment les religions dites “natives”, “ethniques” ou “traditionnelles” d’Amérique Latine, générées par le contexte de flux et d’échanges lié à la globalisation. Il y a quelques dizaines d’années, les religions “indo-américaines” étaient pratiquées de façon restreinte lors de certaines festivités locales, dans des contextes communautaires “ethniques” ou incorporées aux folklores culturels nationaux. Aujourd’hui, un public plus large s’y intéresse avec ferveur, en tant que paradigmes d’une “authenticité” et d’une “ancestralité” indigènes. Cet élargissement contribue à transformer ces pratiques religieuses en circuits conformés d’une part par les itinéraires d’acteurs cosmopolites qui circulent à travers les réseaux alternatifs de la spiritualité dite “new age”, et d’autre part par leur insertion dans l’offre “néo-ésotérique” proposée sur le marché mondial. La session portera une attention particulière aux dynamiques de translocalisation et de transnationalisation de ces pratiques, à leurs processus de relocalisation et de resignification, aux trajectoires et échanges des acteurs qui les portent, ainsi qu’au rôle des flux migratoires et des usages touristiques des rituels.
